Description

Delignification of lignocellulose biomass necessary to facilitate cellulose hydrolysis. The purpose of this study was to improve the delignification efficiency of rice straw substrate by Phanerochaete chrysosporium fungus with gamma ray treatment. The method of delignification used is solid state fermentation. The treatment in this study was low-dose irradiation of the P. chrysosporium fungus at 0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 Gy, high dose irradiation on rice straw 0, 50, 100 kGy and pretreatment NaOH (0 %, 1 %, 2 %, 3 %). The results showed that delignification with solid fermentation by P. chrysosporium radiated by gamma rays 1000 Gy and rice straw substrate pretreatment of NaOH 2 % and irradiated by gamma rays 100 Gy able to increase delignification efficiency of 85,95 % higher than without irradiation. Maximum delignification result was occurred on day 12 with lignin level of 1,634 %. (author)
