Large grain growth and superconducting properties of GdBa2Cu3O7-δ fabricated in air with BaCuO2-x addition

Description

The melt-textured growth of Gd123 single domain was studied in air via a hot-seeding melt process. Gd-Ba substitution can be effectively suppressed by adding BaCuO2-x. At 77 K, both Jc value at self-field and irreversibility field Birr showed a peak with increasing the amount of BaCuO2-x. Birr(77 K) was higher than 7 T with a nominal composition of Gd123 + 0.33BaCuO2-x in a molar ratio. A further addition of BaCuO2-x deteriorated superconducting properties. A surface field of 0.7 T was trapped in a 2.5 cm single domain pellet at 77 K
