Advances in inertial confinement fusion research at DENIM

Description
The recent advances in ICF research at DENIM are focused in the areas of laser-plasma interaction, atomic physics for ICF applications, radiation-hydrodynamic computational schemes, 2-D hydrodynamics, target design and models for computing activation and material damage in fusion technology. The existing ray tracing-hydro coupled code has been used to simulate the behaviour of large high aspect ratio target (LHART) as reported in some recent experiments by ILE. The use of indirect targets is a good solution for getting high compression. The atomic physics characteristics of the ICF target evolution considers a wide range of different simultaneous mechanisms, which must be analyzed by sophisticated codes in LTE and NLTE approaches, as those developed at DENIM. The authors explore the conditions of high gain targets for future reactors under the approach of direct driven. The mass and elements composition of the fuel, pusher and tamper are considered as parameters in the representation of the gain versus the energy of the driver
