3-D imaging with a 3-D PET: A complete simulation of the HISPET tomograph
- 1. Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Stanford, CA 94305
Description
The authors have designed a HIgh Spatial resolution Positron Emission Tomograph with a 2π solid angle coverage, based on the use of MultiWire Proportional Chambers with dense drift space converters. The imaging capabilities of HISPET have been studied with a fully 3-D Monte Carlo simulation of the tomograph and various source/phantom configurations, By using a simple 3-D filtered back-projection algorithm a spatial resolution of 4 mm (FWHM) has been obtained. The imaging results for several radioisotope distributions are presented
