Recent Results on the Fast Neutron Doss Endurance of Dragon Project Manufactured PyC Coatings
Description
This paper collects the results on the fast neutron dose induced failure of PyC coatings from a series of recent irradiation experiments (HTR 3, HFR 900, BR2-1400, Corail VII and HTR 4). The results refer specifically to PyC coating layers on particles which correspond in their size and density approximately to the Low Enriched Dragon Reference Particle. The old endurance plot for methane derived PyC is confirmed and extended towards lower temperatures (900 C). For the superior propane and butane derived PyC coatings only an estimated region of failure incidence at the 1% level could be derived in the experimentally investigated fast neutron dose range.
