Integrated computer-based systems survey and outlook

  • 1. MacNeal-Schwendler Corp., Los Angeles, CA (USA)

Description

The objectives of this paper are to discuss trends in integrated computer-based systems used for engineering analysis, identify the principal shortcomings, and provide a few guidelines on needed courses of action. Design and analysis activities in nuclear reactor technology depend heavily upon a variety of public and private large-scale, general-purpose computer systems. Nearly all of these systems are based upon the Finite Element Method. This paper addresses those Finite Element Method systems which are available in the public domain. (orig.)
