Mass scaling effect on the dynamic response of an impact analysis of nuclear fuel transport casks

  • 1. Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear (CDTN/CNEN-MG), Belo Horizonte, MG (Brazil)

Description

The main objective of this work is to present a technique for reducing computational processing time, without losing the accuracy of the answer, of an explicit analysis based on the finite element method through a parameter known as mass scaling. Explicit analysis by the finite element method is indicated for dynamic problems with a short duration and involving large deformations, such as, for example, a free-fall test at a height of 9 m of a nuclear fuel transport hull
