188Re-7E11C5.3 radioimmunotherapy on human prostate cancer xenograft in nude mice

Description

To evaluate the effect of 188Re-7E11C5.3 radioimmunotherapy on human prostate cancer, 32 nude mice bearing LNCaP xenograft tumor were randomized into four groups, i.e. the 188Re-7E11C5.3, the 188Re-mIgG and the 188ReO4- groups, plus the control group. After 5.55 MBq single dose intravenous injection through the tail, changes in body weight and the tumor volume were monitored for four consecutive weeks. The serum PSA levels were detected. The tumors were weighed and inhibitory rate of the tumor growth was calculated. The results showed that the tumor weight and serum PSA level of the mice were significantly lower in 188Re-7E11C5.3 group than those in the control group (P<0.01). The inhibitory rate of tumor growth was 60.7% in the 188Re-7E11C5.3 group. There was no significant difference of tumor weight and serum PSA level among 188Re-mIgG, 188ReO4- and control groups(P>0.05). In conclusion, 188Re-7E11C5.3 can effectively inhibit the growth of xenografted human prostate cancer and may be a suitable radiopharmaceutical for the treatment of prostate cancer. (authors)
