Damage structure in neutron irradiated TZM

  • 1. Atomics International, Canoga Park, CA

Description

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been used to study the damage structure of TZM after irradiation in EBR-II to fluences of 3.8 x 1026 and 8 x 1026 n/m2 (E greater than 0.1 MeV) at temperatures of 5000C and 6000C. The damage structure consists of individual defect clusters, rafted defect clusters, dislocation loops and line segments, and voids. Swelling was negligible in all cases. The nature and disposition of the damage structure as a function of irradiation temperature and fluence is discussed
