123I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) for diagnosis of neuroblastoma

Description
123I-MIBG proved to be useful for diagnosis of neuroblastoma. The diagnostic quality is good or excellent already within the first 24 hours after injection. Image quality and compared to the use of 131-I-MIBG markedly shorter exposition times are the main arguments to use this compound. The lower radiation exposition has to be taken into account, too. Expecially for small children 123I-MIBG is advantageous. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
123J-MIBG hat sich bei der Neuroblastomdiagnostik bewaehrt. Die diagnostischen Aussagen sind schon innerhalb von 24 Std. gut bis sehr gut. Bildqualitaet und im Vergleich zu 131J-MIBG deutlich kuerzere Aufnahmezeiten sind die Hauptargumente fuer die Substanz, die geringere Strahlenexposition ist ebenfalls zu bedenken. Besonders bei kleinen Kindern wuerden wir das Praeparat immer dem 131J-Praeparat vorziehen. (orig.)Additional details
