On scattering of W bosons on monopoles

Description

The problem of the nonrelativistic W-boson scattering on the 't Hooft-Polyakov monopole is considered. In the case when the total angular momentum j of the system is zero, the effective potential is -1/2mr2 (m is the mass of the W boson) corresponding to the falling-on-the-center situation, i.e. to the infinite number of energy levels not bounded from below. In fact, the spectrum is bounded from below as the relativistic treatment is no longer applicable at r <or approx. 1/m, when the structure of the monopole core displays itself. The lowest level in the spectrum corresponds to the Julia-Zee dyon. The cross sections for photon-induced dyon desintegration and for the radiative capture of W by the monopole are estimated
