Structural transformations in high-nitrogen austenitic steel

  • 1. AN SSSR, Novosibirsk. Sibirskoe Otdelenie

Description

The structure of steel , containing 18 % Cr, 21 % Mn, 7 % Ni, 1 % N, aged after hardening and subsequent rolling at 20, 400 and 1000 deg C, is studied and the results are presented. It is shown that cold and warm rolling at low and medium deformation degrees intensify the reaction of chromium nitride interrupted isolation. At higher deformation degrees the reaction of interrupted isolation does not appear, but the process of heterogeneous isolation of nitrides develops. In the course of hot rolling both interrupted and heterogeneous isolation of nitrides takes place. In case of subsequent aging as a result of spheroidizing, coalescence and recrystallization the microduplex structure is formed
