Dosimetry in wide cone-beam computed tomography: New dosimetric methodology

Description

The goal of this study was to contribute to the national update as regards to wide cone beam CT scanners through the conduction of the first Brazilian dosimetry, according to the IAEA recommendation for this type of CT scanner. The values of normalized CT dose index measured free-in-air for the dosimetry in 3 steps were not feasible because they were associated with uncertainties 6 times higher. In conclusion, health care institutions that have these CT scanners are able to use the same traditional equipment of the field of dosimetry in CT, if they follow the recommended method. (author)
