Description
Deterministic effects of ionizing radiation in humans are the result of whole-body or local exposures that cause sufficient cell damage or cell killing to impair function in the irradiated tissue or organ. The information in this annex on the possible deterministic effects specific to the exposure of children comes from the application of new methods to derive data and the continued monitoring of patients who received radiotherapy and other individuals exposed to doses high enough to cause deterministic damage to specific tissues or to the whole body.
