Regenerative ability of mouse bone marrow after irradiation
Description
The experiment was carried out on 160 male CPB-S mice aged 11-12 weeks. The donor mice received the following doses of X-rays: 0, 100 R, 200 R, 400 R. The recipient mice received a dose of 850 R. It was found that the optimal number of grafted nucleated bone marrow cells was 106, and the optimal time for the analysis of the colonies forming in the spleen of the recipient was 9 days after grafting. These experiments suggest the conclusion that there is a linear correlation between the dose of X-rays and the number of colonies formed in the spleen of the recipient receiving a lethal dose of radiation, which may serve for determination of the regenerative ability of bone marrow after irradiation.
