Lifetime extension of nuclear power plants

  • 1. Vyskumny Ustav Palivoenergetickeho Komplexu, Bratislava (Czechoslovakia)

Description

The building of new energy sources in Czechoslovakia is slowing down and capital costs of new nuclear power plants are rising. The negative impact of these factors may be alleviated by reconstruction of the existing WWER-440/V-213 and WWER-1000 units aimed at extending their lifetime. Prospects for the construction of nuclear power plants in Czechoslovakia after the year 2000 are shown in the tabular form in two variants, viz., without and with the reconstruction of the existing nuclear power plant units for their life extension. Costs of the construction, reconstruction and decommissioning of WWER-440 and WWER-1000 units are also given. (Z.M.). 1 fig., 5 tabs., 4 refs
