Description

To investigate hodoscope calorimeter resolution at the energy of 300 GeV, the possibilities of a high-precision localization of hadronic showers and hadron coordinate determination at high energies have been studied. A novel experimental technique is used, the hodoscope hadron calorimeter which measures the energy released by shower, in its lateral cross-section. It is shown that the accuracy of hadron coordinate definition improves with energy. At E=300 GeV it attains 3 mm. The dependences have been found to describe the shrinkage of hadronic showers with energy and the increase of its central component. By the energy resolution the hodoscope calorimeter does not yield the ordinary calorimeters
