Measurement method for evaluating the transparence to γ and X photons of entry windows of Ge(Li) semiconductor detectors

Description
A method is proposed for determining experimentally the transmission curve as a function of the energy of the entry window of Ge(Li) detectors using the ratio of the surfaces of two peaks in a γ spectra produced by a simple emitter. The sources used do net have to be calibrated. The energy E φ/2 of the photon for which the transmission is 50 per cent makes it possible to define the whole of the transmission curve. The energy range E φ/2 covered is from 10 to 70 keV, with 3 emitters: 57Co, 241Am et 153Gd. (author)
Abstract (French)
On propose une methode qui permet, a partir du rapport des surfaces d'un couple de pics dans un spectre γ produit par un emetteur simple, de determiner experimentalement la courbe de transmission, en fonction de l'energie, de la fenetre d'entree d'un detecteur Ge(Li). Les sources utilisees n'ont pas besoin d'etre etalonnees. L'energie E φ/2 du photon pour laquelle la transmission est de 50 pour cent, permet de definir la courbe de transmission dans sa totalite. La gamme d'energie E φ/2 couverte va de 10 a 70 keV avec 3 emetteurs: 57Co, 241Am et 153Gd. (auteur)Files
