Zero degree hadron production from an aluminum target at 300 GeV
Description
The hadronic yields from proton-aluminum collisions into a 455 μsr-percent beam centered at 0' were measured at a laboratory proton energy of 300 GeV and secondary momenta of 95, 120, 145 and 170 GeV/c. Using the data from this experiment one has also been able to make a study of the inclusive production of hadrons from an aluminum target. The measured neutrino and antineutrino total cross sections have an energy dependence consistent with a linear rise. In parton models (27) the sum of the slopes of these cross sections provide a measurement of the mean-square charge of the constituents of the nucleon. The measurement gives a value [q2] = 0.27 +- 0.05 for this mean--square charge
