Description
Neutron excitation cross sections of the first 2+-levels of 56 Fe and 94,96,98 Mo were measured by a Ge(Li)-spectrometer. The obtained results and the other authors' data were analyzed using the optical-statistical approach. The calculated strength functions S0 and S1 were compared with the experimental values. The statistical model calculations of the first 2+-level excitation cross sections for the nuclei under study (the orbital momenta l = 0,1 contribute mainly to the interaction), carried using the renormalized penetrability factors (obtained from the experimental values of the strength functions S0 and S1) showed a sensitivity of the calculation results to the strength function values and may serve as a criterion in evaluations both the neutrons cross sections and strength functions
