Spectroscopy in the neighborhood of the double ionization knee
- 1. Rochester Theory Center for Optical Science and Engineering, University of Rochester, Rochester, New York 14627-0171 (United States)
Description
We study the quantum mechanical response of a model two-electron atom to a strong laser pulse over a range of frequencies centered in the vicinity of five-photon ionization. We investigate the variation of single and double ionization yields, determined at the end of the pulse, as a function of the maximum intensity of the incoming laser pulse. We suggest that several features of the ionization yield are the result of the internal structure of our model atom
