Description
The purpose of this study is to develop a method to determine very low 137Cs concentrations (< 0.2 μg/l) in the water of the IJsselmeer (Netherlands). The method, which has been developed on the basis of data from literature, is based on ion exchange. The potassium ion of the potassiumcobalt-hexacyanoferrate complex (KCFC) is exchanged with the cesium ion from the water phase. KCFC granules are present in a glass column through which 100 l IJsselmeer water is conducted. After this the activity of KCFC can be determined by gamma-spectroscopy. (author). 9 refs.; 4 tabs
