Description
In Germany the legal framework for the management of nuclear waste in particular disposal is being discussed. On 23 June 2005 the Federal Minister for Environment presented a draft ''Act on the Establishment of an Association and on the Specification of a Site Selection Procedure for the Final Disposal of Radioactive Wastes (Association and Site Selection Procedure Act)'' in Germany. The current legal framework and the present status of the disposal of radioactive waste in Germany is being described. Finally the main topics of the draft act including the establishment of an association for disposal and the procedure of selecting a repository-site will be presented. (orig.)
