Description
Extremely effective potassium diffusion into iridium is detected under K atom adsorption on d graphite monolayer into an intercalated state from which they diffuse in iridium, and a great increase of their diffusion rate is caused by a great increase of their lifetime in the intercalated state as compared to the one on the open iridium surface containing no graphite monolayer. Activation energy of the surface K atom diffusion into iridium is evaluated: Edif=5.5 eV. High-efficiency potassium diffusion in iridium with graphite monolayer can be used for development of potassium atom and ion sources
