BRST light-cone quantization of the bosonic string Lagrangian

Description
The quantized theory of the bosonic string is formulated in a Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin- (BRST-)invariant manner by fixing the light-cone gauge in Polyakov's Lagrangian. The BRST charge involved in the light-cone gauge is computed using the conformal-invariance principle. Finally it is shown that the conformal anomaly associated with this new gauge fixing cancels at dimensions of space-time equal to 26
