Actively mode-locked and Q-switched glass oscillator

  • 1. Electrotechnical Lab., Sakura, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

A study on an actively mode-locked and Q-switched glass oscillator is reported. A rod of phosphate glass LHG 8 is used in the laser. The pulse width is variable from 100ps to 2ns. The energy of a single pulse is 100--200J. The stability of the pulse width and that of the energy are 3%, respectively. The appearance time of a pulse can be externally predetermined, and the jitter is estimated to be less than 30ps. (author)
