Measurement and modeling of the oxidation rate of hydrogen isotopic gases by soil
- 1. Nagoya Univ., Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya, Aichi (Japan)
Description
Laboratory experiments on the oxidation rate of H2 and D2 gases, simulating HT, were performed using three types of cultivated soils to verify generalities of a model of oxidation rate of H2 and D2 by soil that the authors had proposed. Dependencies of the oxidation rate on controlling factors of substrate concentration, soil water content and soil temperature were determined, and they were well modeled by the formulae proposed by the authors for the soil types. Both difference in the oxidation rate between three types of soil and seasonal variation in the oxidation rate were within a factor of 2 for most cases. (author)
