Description
Low-temperature NMR spectroscopy of benzene on alumina and alumina-supported platinum reveals complex behavior. Physisorbed benzene on alumina shows multisite behavior. The chemisorbed benzene on the supported catalyst shows, in the dipole-dipole-decoupled proton spectrum, evidence of platinum-proton coupling. If the coupling is entirely dipolar, a proton-platinum distance of 2.28 Angstrons is calculated. 16 refs.; 4 figs.; 1 table
