Analysis of hot particles from the nineteenth Chinese nuclear test explosion by Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectrometry
Description
The measurements of the gamma ray spectra from the hot particles (highly radioactive fallout particles) due to the nineteenth Chinese nuclear test explosion on September 26, 1976 were made with a Ge (Li) detector having high resolution. Many nuclides were identified in the gamma ray spectra without any chemical processing. The nuclides of fission products such as 95Zr, sup(95m)Nb, 95Nb, 97Zr, sup(97m)Nb, 97Nb, 99Mo-sup(99m)Tc, 103Ru, 131I, 132Te, 132I, 133Xe, 140Ba, 140La, 141Ce, 143Ce, 144Ce and 147Nd were identified. In addition to them, 237U and 239Np as the induced radionuclides produced from 238U were also identified. Among the other induced ones, 54Mn and 58Co were also identified. The characteristic decay curves of gamma-activities of various radionuclides were obtained by measuring the intensities of the photopeaks in the gamma spectra of the hot particles. (auth.)
