Nanosecond isomerism following heavy ion reactions

  • 1. Rutgers - the State Univ., New Brunswick, NJ (USA). Dept. of Physics and Astronomy

Description

Nanosecond isomeric investigations in 16O reactions (E = 56 and 64 MeV) using the generalized centroid shift method with germanium counters are presented. Several lifetimes in 106Cd, 71As and 101Pd in the range 0.6:2.1 ns have been measured for the first time. Puzzling evidence for possible delay of yrast cascades (approx. >= 300 ps) in some even-even nuclei has been found. (orig.)
