Behaviour of gaseous and organic impurities in the coolant of the NPP with RBMK

Description

The results of measuring radiolytic gas (oxygen and hydrogen) concentrations, PH values and coolant electric conductivity in different circuits of Chernobylskaya NPP unit 1 are described. Oxygen and hydrogen quantity ratio is shown to differ from its stoichiometric value in steam of RBMK boiling reactors. Fine fraction of ion exchange resins and products of their destruction (70%) as well as oils (30%) in the coolant are supposed to be responsible for distortion of the stoichiometric relation. Acid compounds are stated to prevail in steam as a result of thermal radiolysis of organic compounds
