On the relevance of ductile fracture concepts for the assessment of large scale specimens of the German research program integrity of components (FKS)

With regard to the goal of the German research program 'Integrity of Components' to quantify margins of safety the expendiency of current test results is discussed. In order to proof that the types of heats and specimens investigated cover realistic and representative conditions of components the following concepts are reviewed: - the diagram of multiaxiality, - the failure assessment diagram, - the J-T-stability diagram.
