The technological development and its impact on the future energy system

Description

The study deals with the long-term (2000-2030) prospects of energy technologies of relevance to the Danish energy system. It was carried out by the Energy Systems Group, Risoe for the Danish Ministry of Energy as a follow-up to the Danish Energy Plan 81. Projections for the year 2000 were taken from the official plans and used as the starting point for the study. A wide range of technologies was covered and a number of special reports on these are available as appendices to the main report. Special attention was paid to technologies related to the distribution of natural gas and district heat and to the electricity system. Emphasis was put on identifying and characterising the main trends and interdependencies in the development of energy technologies in the period 2000-2030 of which it may be important to take account at an early stage. The developments were analysed in the context of two contrasting scenarios for socio-economic development in Denmark. (author)
