A new method for calculation of phases of a radial wave function on scattering by a spherically-symmetric potential

Description
The equation Ψ+x2Ψ=0 for the radial part of the wave function is reduced to a first order differential equation for the phase shift which is nonsingular at the turning point and stable with respect to small variations of the boundary condition. The latter is defined precisely at the turning point as an asymptotic expansion, each term of which may be determined analytically. The method proposed here is compared with the WKB method for the particular case of Lennard-Jones potential
