Description

The structure of the environmental radiation control system of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant including the control system of the plant and that of the authorities is discussed. The data of annual releases of the plant to the atmosphere and surface water between 1983-1985 are given. According to the annual dose increment calculations based on the analysis of the radioactive effluents the radiation burden of the population (0.01 μ Sr) due to the Paks NPP can be neglected. The environmental control system comprises the comprehensive analysis of the atmosphere, the Danube, surface water, drinking water, soil and sediment, foodstuff, dose rate meaurements. Activity concentration and dose rate data determined by the environmental control system of the plant and by the authorities are compared with each other and with the basic data determined before commissioning of the plant.
