Method of molding metal fuel slug

Description

Upon molding metal fuel slugs of an FBR type reactor, a paper die is used and molten metals are charged into the die in a non-oxidative atmosphere. After casting and mold releasing, the paper die is gasified by burning to be separated from fuel alloys. Since only the remaining fuel alloys and ashes are solidified as TRU wastes, or reutilized as molten materials, the volume of the TRU wastes can be reduced remarkably. (T.M.)
