Description
Objective: To investigate the efficiency of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA) and coronary stent using 99Tcm-methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI)/18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) SPECT imaging in coronary heart disease. Methods: 99Tcm-MIBI myocardial perfusion and metabolic imaging were performed in 33 patients before and after PTCA and(or) coronary stent. Results: After PTCA and(or) coronary stent, the number of myocardial perfusion defects and hypo-metabolic segments significantly decreased from 2.7 ± 0.4 to 1.7 ± 0.3 (P<0.05) and l.9 ± 0.3 to 1.2 ± 0.3 (P<0.05), respectively. The average decline segments myocardial defects and with hypo-metabolic segments were 0.98 ± 0.2 and 0.65 ± 0.2(P<0.05). Conclusion: The myocardial perfusion and cell metabolism can be both improved significantly in successful PTCA and coronary stent, but the degree of change in cell metabolism is far less than the perfusion.
