Precipitation of calcium and strontium sulfates from solutions containing both

Description

A study of the precipitation of calcium and strontium from solutions containing both is of interest from the point of view of their separation. The sulfuric acid method is currently widely used for the treatment of phosphate ore (apatite) for the production of wet-process phosphoric acid. Therefore, this investigation was concerned with the precipitation of calcium and strontium sulfates from solution with a view to their separation, or to obtaining a precipitate enriched in strontium. Such a strontium-containing precipitate could be considered for use as an intermediate in the production of strontium salts, such as strontium carbonate
