Chemical etching and length distribution of fission tracks: a model
Description
In order to study the distribution of fission track lengths a new mathematical model is proposed which takes into account etching conditions and the impossibility for the operator to observe the shortest tracks. This model leads to a broad maximum curve for the total length distributions and shows complicated distributions for overetching. It is possible to choose the most appropriate experimental conditions for studying the thermal history of minerals such as apatites. (author)
