Disputes around biomass
Description
Biomass is considered to be an important option to contribute to the energy supply in the next century. However, experts have different opinions with respect to the yield of energy crops, the availability of agricultural areas and the question whether energy from wastes is sustainable or not. It appears that on the short term wastes and residues are the most promising options for energy production. On the long term the cultivation of energy crops in the Netherlands and the import of biomass are the best options. 16 refs
