High temperature oxidation and thermal ignition of titanium and zirconium plates

Description

The non-isothermic method on the basis of the integral heat balance equation has been used to investigate the heat release kinetics nad titanium and zirconium plate ignition in non-stationary high-temperature oxidation in the Ar+4% O2 flow. The heating conditions, bringing about the plate ignition have been studied. Kinetic process constants in the metal temperature range of 1250-1800 K have been obtained. The experimental results have been quantitatively compared with the thermal ignition theory, generalized for the case of ignition of large-sized metal bodies
