Information report on the behalf of the Commission for European Affairs on electricity in the Union of energy. Nr 147
Description
This parliamentary report first presents and comments the four main challenges (to successfully supply, to free the growth and to support competitiveness, to preserve the environment, and to struggle against energy poverty) and orientations (to improve energy sobriety, to support the development of renewable energies, to generalise the primacy of the market, and to develop inter-institutional dependencies between Member States) of the European Commission regarding energy issues. Then, the authors show that, even though States are defending their sovereignty (and sovereignty remains a reality when energy mix, supply networks, self-production and pricing are considered), research will require efforts to be united, for example for the development of storage and of a clean mobility, for intermittent energy to become permanent, or for the development of an inexhaustible nuclear energy without any radioactive heritage.
