In vitro assimilation of 14C from labelled sodium bicarbonate by rumen bacteria

Description
Rumen bacteria in vitro incubated with 14C-labelled NaHCO3 at 39 deg C took up 20% of the activity during the first 12 hours indicating that C from CO2 which is released in incubation is utilised by the bacteria for the synthesis of their protoplasm. (M.G.B.)
