Description
A model for the interpretation of type 1 OH maser sources, which are related to regions of star formation, is suggested combining the effect of velocity and magnetic field gradients with radiative pumping by means of the (2PIsub(3/2)→J=5/2,2PIsub(1/2) J=5/2) transition. Due to an overlap of particular hyperfine components, inversion of the 1,665 MHz line is favoured. (UK)
