Complex formation of certain rare earth metals with 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) in alcohol-water solutions

Description
The formation of PAN complexes in the systems: Ln(3)-PAN-alcohol-water [where Ln(3) = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, alcohol ethanol and Ln(3) = Eu, alcohol = n-propanol, isopropanol] was investigated by a spectrophotometric method. Equilibrium constants for the reaction Ln3++ HL rightleftdblarrow LnL2++H+ (HL = PAN) and stability constants of complexes LnL2+ are reported. (Author)
