Abundance analysis of Sirius in the blue-violet region

  • 1. Osaka Kyoiku Univ. (Japan)

Description

A high-resolution spectrum of Sirius between 3,530 A and 4,410 A is analyzed. Absorption lines of 19 ions (14 elements) are identified and their abundances are determined. A model atmosphere with Teff = 10,000 K and log g = 4.30 computed using a statistical distribution function with [M/H] = +0.5 is used in the analysis. The abundances of five elements (Mg, Al, Si, Mn, and Ni) coincide with the solar values within ± 0.3 dex. Ti and Fe are marginally overabundant and V, Cr, Sr, Y, and Zr are definitely overabundant. Ca and Sc are underabundant by 0.5 dex and 1.0 dex, respectively, relative to solar values. (author)
