Dissecting aneurysm on plain CT

  • 1. Hyogo College of Medicine, Nishinomiya (Japan)

Description

Six cases of dissecting aneurysm and four cases of non-dissecting aneurysm were studied for the possibility in diagnosis on plain CT. Findings of dissection were bulging of the aorta, displacement of the intimal calcification, intimal flap and hemothorax. Those of non-dissecting aneurysm were dilatation of the aorta, calcification and thrombus. These were found on the plain CT easily in 50% of the cases. The others might be diagnosed by using the image analysis techniques which were included in the software package of CT. (author)
