Rotated carbon target for a high-intense neutron source

Description

The project on the high-intense neutron source with the average efficiency up to 1014 neutrons per second is presented. The source is a rotated carbon target, irradiated by deuteron beam with the energy of 20 MeV, average capacity up to 100 kW, average current of 5 mA and cross-sectional size of 1 cm. The target is cooled by irradiation. The conducted tests showed that the proposed materials may operate several thousand hours under thermal and mechanical modes of the target

Abstract (Russian)

Представлен проект высокоинтенсивного источника нейтронов со средней производительностью до 1014 нейтронов в секунду. Источник представляет собой вращающуюся углеродную мишень, облучаемую пучком дейтронов с энергией 20 МэВ, средней мощностью до 100 кВт, средним током 5 мА и поперечным размером 1 см. Мишень охлаждается излучением. Проведенные испытания показали, что предложенные материалы способны работать при тепловых и механических режимах мишени несколько тысяч часов
