Repair or no-repair decision of large pressure vessels
Description
Although the fracture mechanics approach to appraise the significance of discontinuities in pressure vessels still has uncertainties, there is a trend in Japan to take the fracture mechanics approach to analyse inspection test results and to assess the effect of weld discontinuities. As an example a fracture safe analysis of 2 1/4Cr-1Mo steel pressure vessels is presented. (author)
