Polarized neutrons for solid state physics investigations

Description

The generation and application of polarized thermal neutrons are reviewed. Polarized neutron spectrometers, their components and the method of polarization analysis are presented. Applications of polarized neutrons in investigations of magnetic systems by elastic and inelastic neutron scattering (investigation of ordered and disordered magnetic systems and of domain structures by depolarization measurements) are demonstrated
